During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Argalian Pictures was tasked with producing an ad film for a US-based digital publicist company. The project request accompanied by tight deadlines and elevated expectations was quite an uphill task to manage, considering the Imposed limitations during the height of the pandemic, but at the same time thrilling to test our capabilities of delivering the best in any given situation.
Originally set to be filmed in a cutting-edge studio in a metropolitan city, the ad production faced significant disruption due to strict lock-downs and travel restrictions. With the shooting crew spread across various locations, the core team found themselves in a small, remote town with limited resources, forcing the director and creative producer to rethink their approach. And since failure was not an option, they swiftly adapted, drawing on their creativity and resourcefulness to overcome the challenges. Discarding the initial plan, a new script was formulated that focused more on narrative and emotions to resonate deeply in a world grappling with isolation. The ad was shot in a secluded town-hall, transformed into a minimalist set with the help of black curtains and a DIY lighting structure. Another challenge was managing the art design with limited access to the desired props for the set. In true collaborative spirit, the entire crew stepped in, bringing in furniture and props from their own spaces to craft a makeshift set. Despite the constraints, the result was seamless—everything blended effortlessly with the script and theme, capturing the essence of the story without missing a beat. The result was a minimal yet perfect set that created a professional, ethereal look, rivaling studio conditions. Despite the lack of professional equipment, the shooting crew delivered stunning visuals through innovative use of local resources and adaptive roles.
Casting foreign talent in the small town posed another challenge. Traditional method of sourcing talent through agency was impractical, so social media and local networks in town were explored. The team managed to find a suitable face that aligned precisely with the client’s vision. The authenticity of the ad was enhanced by engaging a native US voice-over artist remotely to seamlessly integrate into the final product. Argalian Pictures completed the entire project in just five days including concept/scripting, filming, and editing to meet the deadlines.
The client was overwhelmingly positive about the final ad, praising the team’s ability to overcome significant obstacles. The ad’s success highlighted Argalian Pictures’ adaptability, innovation, and commitment to excellence. This project not only met but exceeded expectations, setting new standards for the company’s creative capabilities.
