Case Study: Exploring water politics and Rajasthan’s water crisis through a feature documentary on ERCP

Argalian Pictures was commissioned by the Producer Renu Negi to create a compelling documentary under the label of RN Production. This festure documentary project, titled Chambal Ki Chitthi  focused on ERCP – the Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project and the severe water crisis affecting Eastern Rajasthan. Moreover, the project aimed to spotlight the significance of the ERCP and its delayed implementation due to political friction, while presenting the issue with sensitivity and impartiality. This required a fine balance of storytelling, research, and visual craftsmanship.

Tasked with scriptwriting, filming, and editing the entire project, Argalian Pictures delivered seamlessly. The production team along with producer embarked on a two-week shoot in the challenging terrains of Rajasthan. The documentary needed to convey the urgency of the water crisis, while subtly aligning with the client’s political objectives. The gripping narrative perfectly captured the complexities of the hydro-political issue between Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh.
